Srinagar. Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Adil Parre, who was involved in the recent killings of two policemen in Jammu and Kashmir, was killed in a sudden encounter with a ‘small team’ of police here on Sunday, causing havoc in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours. The number of terrorists killed has gone up to five. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar wrote on Twitter, “Gandarbal’s Lashkar terrorist Adil Parre, who killed two Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) personnel at Sangam in G.K. H. Hassan Dar and Anchar were involved in the killing of Saifullah Qadri in Soura, killed in a sudden encounter with a small police team.”
The encounter took place in the Chrisbal Palpora Sangam area here. With Parrey’s death, the number of terrorists killed in the last 24 hours has gone up to five and the number of terrorists killed in the Valley so far this year has gone up to 100. One terrorist was killed in Kulgam, while the other was killed in Pulwama on Saturday. Two more terrorists were killed in the Pulwama encounter on Sunday morning, taking the number of terrorists killed in the operation to three. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area on Saturday after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in Drabgam village in south-Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a police spokesman said.
Three Lashkar terrorists killed in Pulwama
According to the spokesman, when the security personnel reached the suspected hideout of the terrorists, the terrorists hiding there opened indiscriminate fire on them, to which the security forces retaliated and an encounter broke out between the two sides. He said that three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in the encounter whose bodies were recovered from the encounter site. According to him, the trio have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Shirgojri, a resident of Gadoora, Pulwama, Nazir Bhat, a resident of Drabgam, Pulwama, and Irfan Ahmed Malik, a resident of Arabal Niwas, Pulwama. According to police records, these three terrorists were part of groups involved in many terrorist crimes including attacks on police and security forces, harassment of common people.
Arms, ammunition recovered from encounter site
The spokesperson said that Shirgojri was involved in the murder of policeman Riyaz Ahmed on May 13 along with his accomplice and Abid Hussain, a resident of Monghama in Pulwama. Abid Hussain was killed on 30 May. “He (Shirgojri) was also involved in the attack on workers on June 2 at a brick kiln in Chadoora outside Pulwama-Budgam. One laborer lost his life and many others were injured in this attack.”
The spokesman said that arms, ammunition etc. have been recovered from the encounter site which have been kept as a record for further investigation. Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar congratulated the security forces for conducting the counter-terrorism operation in a professional manner without any casualties.
