Babbar Khalsa’s most wanted terrorist Patialvi arrested, was dodging for 12 years

Chandigarh: Punjab Police on Sunday arrested a terrorist of Babbar Khalsa. This terrorist, wanted in Ludhiana’s Shingar cinema bomb blast, among other cases, was evading arrest for the last 12 years. The Anti-Gangster Task Force of Punjab Police arrested Charanjit Singh alias Patialvi from Dera Bassi in Mohali. Patialvi was an active member of the terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International and was involved in the 2007 Ludhiana blasts. 6 people were killed in this blast while 40 people were injured. The terrorist module of BKI was busted by the police in 2010.

This terrorist module was also allegedly involved in the 2010 blasts at Kalimata Temple in Patiala and Ambala. AGTF Deputy Inspector General Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said on Sunday that all other associates of Patialvi were arrested by the Punjab Police in 2010.

Police said Patialvi was evading arrest for the past 12 years by using different identities and locations. Bhullar said, “Patialavi was presently hiding in a gurdwara in Kharagpur, West Bengal in the guise of a granthi and was not using any communication device (mobile phone etc.).”

Bhullar said that various identity cards with addresses of West Bengal have been recovered from him. Bhullar said that Patialvi, a resident of Butta Singh Wala village in Patiala, was declared a proclaimed offender in the case registered under the Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Machiwada police station.

He said that the team led by Assistant Inspector General Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and Deputy Superintendent of Police Bikramjit Singh Brar arrested Patialvi from near the Gurdwara located in Lali village near Dera Bassi.
