Mumbai: A major train accident took place in Mumbai’s Matunga on Friday. Three coaches of Puducherry Express derailed between Matunga and Dadar stations. At present, there is no information about any injury in this accident. According to the news information, this accident happened at around 9:45 pm. GRP has tweeted that the railway administration is working to rescue the stranded passengers on a war footing. Many top officials of GRP Mumbai have reached the spot. The GRP has appealed to the passengers for cooperation and has said that in case of any emergency, dial 1512 and inform.
The operation of Central Railway has been affected after the accident. According to Railway CP there has been a minor collision between Chalukya Express and Mumbai CSMT Gadag Express near Matunga. There is currently no report of any injury in this incident. According to a senior GRP official, there is no difference in the movement of suburban trains and they are running regularly.
A helpline number has been issued by the Central Railway after three coaches of the Dadar-Puducherry Express train derailed. According to Railway CP Kaiser Khalid, Gadag Express train is being taken to Dadar station. There is a tight deployment of RPF in the train and the luggage of all the passengers is safe. Evacuation of passengers from Chalukya/Puducherry Express train is going on and all top officials will be present at the spot till the situation normalises. The power line damaged during the accident is being repaired.
