Chhattisgarh Sukma Blast: Four CRPF Personnel Injured While Destroying Explosives, Two Critical

Raipur, October 9, 2026: Four personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in an explosion while disposing of unused and leftover explosives in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. Two of the injured personnel, both Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), are reported to be in critical condition.

According to police officials, the incident took place on the evening of Thursday, October 8, near the Elaramdagu security camp in the Bhejji police station area. The personnel were involved in the process of safely disposing of explosives when the blast occurred.

Four CRPF Personnel Injured

The injured personnel have been identified as ASI M.K. Tiwari and Inspector Amarnath Mishra, both members of the Ammunition Technical Team (ATT), along with ASI Anees Khan and Head Constable Kuldeep Raj of the CRPF’s 50th Battalion.

An official said that both ASIs sustained serious injuries. The injured personnel were given initial medical assistance before being taken to the government hospital in Konta, where they are undergoing treatment.

Arrangements were also being made to transfer the seriously injured personnel to another hospital for better medical care.

Blast Occurred During Disposal of Explosives

According to an official, the Ammunition Technical Team of the CRPF’s 50th Battalion had travelled from Jagdalpur to the Elaramdagu camp in the Konta range.

The team’s assignment was to inspect various camps in the area and safely dispose of unused and leftover explosives.

The disposal operation was being carried out in accordance with prescribed safety protocols near the Bodrajpadar stream, approximately 200 metres from the security camp.

During the process, a fragment of an explosive reportedly flew into the nearby area and detonated, injuring the four personnel.
