One Indian killed in attack; 19 rescued(One Indian ) 

New Delhi: A commercial vessel has once again been attacked in the Gulf region. One Indian  (One Indian )  died and 19 others were rescued in the attack, which occurred near the coast of Oman. The Ministry of External Affairs has condemned the incident. According to reports, the commercial vessel MV Cape Dao, which was en route to India, was attacked on Wednesday near Oman’s eastern coast. One Indian national lost his life in the attack, while 19 other Indian sailors on board were safely rescued. Confirming the incident, the Indian Embassy stated that it is in constant contact with Omani authorities.
Ministry of External Affairs condemns the incident
The Indian Embassy in Muscat stated that it is closely monitoring the situation regarding the safety of all crew members on board. The Embassy expressed condolences to the family of the deceased Indian national and confirmed it is in touch with the family. The Ministry of External Affairs has also condemned the incident. According to the Ministry, a total of 20 Indian sailors were on board; 19 were rescued, while one Indian died in the attack. The Indian Embassy is coordinating with Omani authorities to facilitate the early repatriation of the Indian sailors.

Concern expressed over attacks on commercial vessels
The Ministry of External Affairs expressed concern over the recurring attacks on commercial vessels in the region. India has called for adopting the path of dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate tensions. The Ministry stated that the targeting of commercial vessels, sailors, and civilian infrastructure must cease, and that safe and unhindered navigation and trade in the region’s international waterways should be restored promptly.

Embassy continuously monitoring the situation
According to reports, the attack took place while the vessel was heading towards India. The embassy is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities to ensure the safety of the crew. In a post on X, the Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI) identified the deceased as Suraj Yadav, a ‘wiper’ hailing from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. The union stated, “Another Indian seafarer has been killed,” adding that Yadav died following an attack on the *MV Cape Dao* while it was en route to India.

**Threat to Seafarers near the Strait of Hormuz**

According to the FSUI, the vessel was struck by two torpedoes: one hit the port side of the C-deck accommodation area, and the other struck the port-side hull near the engine room. The union remarked that this attack poses a threat to ordinary seafarers in and around the Strait of Hormuz. The FSUI stated, “There is no sense of security. Innocent seafarers are being slaughtered in and around Hormuz.”

Earlier, on September 13, an attack also took place on the Indian ship *MT El Gaia* off the coast of Oman. There were 14 crew members on board at the time of the attack, all of whom were Indian. Thirteen crew members have been rescued, while one remains missing and is currently being searched for. Meanwhile, India has strongly condemned the incident.
