New York: US President Donald Trump has made a significant statement regarding the Russia-Ukraine war. (Ukraine war ) Expressing concern over the devastation caused by the conflict, he appealed for it to be brought to an end. Trump made these remarks in a post on Truth Social.
Russia has lost control over its diesel oil industry
Donald Trump stated that Russia has lost control over its diesel oil industry due to the war with Ukraine. He claimed that a large number of Russian diesel refineries have been targeted and are currently non-operational.
Trump calls it a never-ending war
He described the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine as a futile, never-ending war. Trump claimed that approximately 25,000 people—mostly soldiers—are dying in the conflict every month. Expressing sorrow over the situation, he called it deeply shameful. Trump’s statement comes amidst the ongoing war, with both sides targeting each other’s energy and military installations.
Ukraine launched a major attack on Russia on Sunday
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian military launched a major attack on Russia on Sunday. Over 1,000 drones were used in overnight attacks on Russia. Around 100 drones targeted the capital, Moscow. The attack took place on the third and final day of Russia’s ongoing parliamentary elections. Two people were killed and 20 injured in attacks in the areas surrounding Moscow. This is being described as the largest attack by Ukraine on Russia to date.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on social media that Kyiv utilized various types of missiles and drones in the attack, including the Ukrainian-made ‘Flamingo’ and ‘Pelican’ missiles. He stated that these were used to target oil and logistics facilities. Highlighting the aim of exerting pressure on Russia’s economy, Zelenskyy said, “These are billions of dollars that fuel the war machine.”
Trump’s Summit with Xi Jinping
Meanwhile, President Trump is also busy preparing for the summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the US from September 23 to 25 at Trump’s invitation; a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced this on Monday. Xi is scheduled to arrive in Washington on September 23 and hold a summit with President Trump during the visit.
