Tehran: Iran has outlined its conditions ( Conditions) for resuming talks to end the conflict with the US. According to Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Qatar has conveyed Tehran’s conditions to the US, and Iran is now awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump.
Rezaei stated that Iran’s key demands include ending hostilities on all fronts, releasing Iranian funds held abroad, and lifting the naval blockade. He also mentioned on the social media platform ‘X’ that Iran has set a total of seven conditions for initiating any dialogue with the US.
Awaiting Trump’s Response
According to Rezaei, Qatar is maintaining contact between Iran and the US as a mediator. He stated that Tehran’s message is clear: if Washington wishes to emerge from the current crisis, it must accept Iran’s rights and conditions.
The Iranian official did not rule out the possibility of potential US military action. He noted that, based on Iran’s military assessments, the risk of a US attack persists, and Tehran has adjusted its military plans to handle such a scenario.
“Ready for a Decisive War”
Dismissing US threats as ineffective, Mohsen Rezaei declared that Iran is prepared for a decisive war. He claimed that Iran’s current military strategy focuses specifically on US naval assets deployed across the region, stretching from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
He also claimed that Iran recently tested a multi-warhead anti-ship missile in the vicinity of a US ship or aircraft carrier. However, these reports do not mention any independent verification of this claim.
Rezaei warned that if Iran were to be attacked in the future, the response could be extensive. According to him, this could target US military bases in the region as well as US commercial companies operating locally.
Reports indicate that Qatar and Pakistan are making efforts to restart talks between Tehran and Washington. Other countries in the region are also pursuing diplomatic initiatives to end the conflict. Rezaei stated that while the conflict is effectively ongoing, Iran is working on a strategy to bring it to a close as soon as possible.
**Iran’s stance on its nuclear program**
Rezaei also clarified Iran’s position regarding its nuclear program. He stated that Iran has not yet decided to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). However, he warned that US actions could push Iran toward taking such a step.
Rezaei asserted that there has been no change in Iran’s nuclear policy and that the country adheres to the religious decree prohibiting the development of nuclear weapons.
**Comments on Bab-el-Mandeb and Hormuz**
Dismissing the possibility of closing the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, Rezaei noted that the issue is linked to Yemen and the Houthi movement. Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, he stated that Iran and Oman had neared an agreement, but the process was halted due to current circumstances. According to him, the framework for the agreement remains ready, though approval from other regional nations might be required before it is made public.
**US visas for the Iranian delegation to the UNGA**
Meanwhile, according to the Anadolu Agency, the US State Department has issued visas to the Iranian delegation to attend the high-level week of the UN General Assembly. The event is scheduled to take place in New York from September 18 to 28.
