Lebanon: U.S. President Donald Trump has made a major announcement via his social media platform. Posting on Truth Social, Trump stated that a 10-day ceasefire has been reached between Israel and Lebanon.  ( Lebanon )    Trump remarked that he held very productive discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both leaders have agreed to formally initiate a 10-day ceasefire in an effort to establish peace. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu also confirmed that he has consented to a 10-day truce with Lebanon, with the aim of advancing peace efforts between the two nations.

“It is an Honor for Me”: Trump
In his post, Trump stated: “On Tuesday—for the first time in 34 years—delegations from both countries met in Washington with our Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. I have instructed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Rubio—working alongside the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Regen-Ken—to engage with Israel and Lebanon in order to achieve a lasting peace.” “Resolving 9 conflicts around the world has been an honor for me, and this will be my 10th—so let’s get it done!”

**Trump Spoke with the President of Lebanon**
Earlier, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun posted on X stating that he had held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. During the conversation, Joseph Aoun expressed his gratitude to President Trump for his ongoing efforts to broker a ceasefire and ensure lasting peace and stability.

**Israel Destroys Bridge in Lebanon**
Prior to the announcement of the ceasefire, the Lebanese military reported that on April 16, Israeli forces targeted and destroyed the Qasmiyeh Bridge in Tyre. The military described this act as part of the ongoing aggression against the country. The military stated that the objective of the attack was to sever the southern Litani region from the northern region, thereby isolating it. One person was killed and two others were injured in the attack. A soldier stationed at the scene also sustained injuries.

**Hezbollah Lashes Out at Lebanon**
Hezbollah has also reacted to the talks taking place between Lebanon and Israel. Hezbollah official Hussein Hajj Hassan stated that the Lebanese government’s decision to engage in direct negotiations with Israel is a grave error. According to Hassan, such negotiations serve no national interest and should be halted.
