Direct Phone Conversation Between Trump and Netanyahu  ( Trump) 

Washington/Tel Aviv/Beirut: US President Donald Trump      ( Trump)  has spoken by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, appealing for a de-escalation of attacks on Lebanon. According to reports, Trump stated that such a move would help ensure the success of the ongoing ceasefire negotiations between the United States and Iran. Meanwhile, Netanyahu has issued orders to initiate direct talks with Lebanon. It is worth noting that this conversation between the two leaders took place at a time when Israel had recently launched a fresh attack on Lebanon—an act widely perceived as a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Will the Situation Stabilize Following Talks Between Trump and Netanyahu?
It is pertinent to mention that just a few hours earlier, Netanyahu had publicly declared that Israel would continue its attacks on Lebanon with “full force.” This statement had heightened global concerns, particularly after Iranian officials issued warnings of retaliation and indicated that they might withdraw from the ceasefire agreement. Amidst this, Netanyahu reiterated that attacks against Hezbollah would not cease, and that a ceasefire was simply “not on the table.” However, following the conversation between Trump and Netanyahu, it is now believed that Israel may temporarily scale back its attacks, potentially paving the way for peace in the region.

Netanyahu Instructs Cabinet to Initiate Talks with Lebanon
Amidst rising tensions, Netanyahu noted that Lebanon has repeatedly requested direct negotiations. He stated, “Following Lebanon’s repeated requests, I have instructed the Cabinet to initiate talks as soon as possible.” He added that the primary objective of these negotiations would be to dismantle Hezbollah’s weaponry and to establish peace between the two nations. Netanyahu also welcomed the statement made by the Lebanese Prime Minister, in which he spoke of ridding Beirut of military activities.

**Lebanon to Lodge Complaint Against Israel at the UN**
Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has announced that his country will file a complaint against Israel at the United Nations. He stated that the recent attacks—which resulted in the deaths of over 200 people—constitute a “flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law” and undermine peace efforts. Salam also noted that the government has instructed security forces to consolidate control within the capital, Beirut, and to restrict the possession of weapons solely to legitimate forces.
