Tehran: A top Iranian official has issued a stern warning to the United States against a ground invasion. The senior Iranian official stated that US troops would be “consumed by fire. (by Fire ) ” This statement comes at a time when regional foreign ministers have gathered in Pakistan to bring an end to the month-long conflict.
According to reports from Iran’s state-run media, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, asserted that the talks held over the weekend were merely a pretext, as the United States is deploying additional troops to West Asia. Pakistan has stated that the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt are holding talks in Islamabad—without the participation of the US or Israel—with the aim of ending the conflict in West Asia.
Israel and the US Continue Attacks on Iran
However, there were few signs of progress, as Israel and the United States continued their attacks on Iran. Meanwhile, Tehran also continued to launch retaliatory strikes across the region using missiles and drones. On Sunday, Israel reported that multiple attacks had been launched from the Iranian side. Concurrently, sounds of explosions were also heard in several locations across Tehran.

US’s Largest Military Deployment in Two Decades
Approximately 2,500 US Marines have arrived in the region, marking the largest US military deployment to the area in the last two decades. Furthermore, orders have been issued to deploy at least 1,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division to West Asia; these troops are capable of landing in enemy territory to secure key objectives and airfields.
**Iran Threatens to Target US Universities**
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States “can achieve all its objectives without deploying ground forces.” Meanwhile, on Sunday, Iran threatened to target Israeli and American universities located in the region. This marks the first time that Iran has openly threatened to target educational institutions. State-run media reported that the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard issued a statement warning that if the security of Iranian universities is not guaranteed, the campuses of Israeli and American universities present in the region will be “directly” targeted.
The Revolutionary Guard stated, “If the US government wishes for its universities in the region to remain safe, it must issue an official statement by 12:00 PM on Monday, March 30, condemning the ongoing attacks on (Iranian) universities.”
**Air Travel Also Disrupted**
Additionally, the Guard demanded that the United States restrain Israel from launching attacks on Iranian universities and research centers—facilities that have faced repeated attacks in recent days. This conflict has emerged as a grave threat to global oil and natural gas supplies. Consequently, a fertilizer crisis has arisen, and air travel has also been disrupted.
**US and Israel Continuously Attacking Iran**
Iran’s control over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz has rattled global markets. The United States and Israel are continuously launching attacks on Iran, while in retaliation, Iran is targeting US military bases located in Israel and in neighboring Arab nations across the Gulf.
**Over 3,000 Lives Lost**
To date, this conflict has claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people. The United States states that it has carried out attacks on more than 11,000 Iranian targets during this conflict. Eyewitnesses in Tehran reported that heavy airstrikes struck the city late Saturday night. Meanwhile, Iran fired missiles toward Israel early Sunday morning. Air defense systems in the Gulf nations intercepted and destroyed numerous missiles and drones in mid-air.
