Tehran: “Welcome to Hell”—an open warning has been issued to the United States. It states that any American soldier who sets foot on Iranian soil “will return only in a coffin.” This warning comes at a time when U.S. ( U.S.) media outlets have reported that the United States is considering the deployment of 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East. It is worth noting that the U.S. is reportedly preparing for a ground campaign inside Iran.
Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that Tehran is engaged in peace talks with the U.S. aimed at ending the conflict, this potential deployment would constitute a major buildup of U.S. military forces vis-à-vis Iran. According to *The Wall Street Journal*, the objective behind sending these additional U.S. troops is to provide Trump with a wider range of military options in the Middle East—a region that has been on a war footing since the commencement of U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran on February 28.
These additional troops would join the thousands of paratroopers and Marines who have already been deployed to the region. An Iranian official stated that Tehran would respond to any U.S. ground invasion by activating its Houthi allies in Yemen. The Houthis would be instructed to resume attacks on vessels in the Red Sea, thereby opening a new front in the conflict, the official noted.
Trump has consistently maintained that he has no intention of deploying ground troops for combat operations against Iran. It remains unclear exactly where these additional U.S. forces would be stationed. They would likely be deployed in close proximity to Iran and Kharg Island—a critical oil export hub situated just off the Iranian coast.
