Kabul: Afghanistan’s Taliban army has taken strong action in response to Pakistani airstrikes. Afghan military officials say they have launched attacks against Pakistan. A statement issued by the media office of Afghanistan’s Eastern Army Corps said that Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes in Nangarhar and Paktia provinces on Thursday night, triggering “heavy (Heavy ) clashes.”
Afghan Army gives a befitting reply to Pakistan
However, there was no immediate confirmation from Pakistan, nor was there any information about casualties. Last Sunday, the Pakistani army carried out attacks across the Afghan border and claimed to have killed at least 70 militants. Afghanistan rejected this claim, saying that dozens of its civilians, including women and children, were killed. Afghanistan has now responded to this.
Pakistan Accuses Afghan Taliban
Earlier, on Tuesday, Pakistan accused the Afghan Taliban of “unprovoked firing” along the border and warned of a strong response to any further such attacks. This firing came after Pakistan launched airstrikes on alleged terrorist hideouts following recent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.
Firing from Both Sides on the Pakistan-Afghanistan Border
Mosharraf Zaidi, spokesman for Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, said in a post that the Afghan Taliban regime had initiated unprovoked firing along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Torkham and Tirah sub-sectors. Pakistani security forces responded promptly to the firing and quelled the Taliban aggression.
Border Clashes Also Occurred Last October
In October last year, armed clashes broke out between the two sides. According to the Pakistani Army, 23 Pakistani soldiers and over 200 Afghan Taliban soldiers were killed. A ceasefire was agreed upon after that.
