Moscow: Russia has sent an invitation to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy  ( Zelenskyy )     for peace talks in Moscow. The Kremlin said  Russia has again invited the Ukrainian president for peace talks in Moscow. This statement comes at a time when US-led efforts to end the war, which has been going on for nearly four years, have intensified.

According to Kyiv News, Russia has indeed sent an invitation to Zelenskyy, but Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Interfax news agency that Moscow has not yet received a response to the invitation for Zelenskyy to come. He said that Russia would guarantee Zelenskyy’s security and would ensure the meeting is well-prepared and results-oriented. Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said on Wednesday that any meeting should be well-prepared and focused on positive outcomes. This invitation was also extended last year, which Zelenskyy rejected. He had then said that he could not go to the capital of a country that fires missiles daily and suggested that Putin come to Kyiv instead.

Russia’s statement comes at a time when the two countries recently exchanged the bodies of soldiers killed in the war. However, the Kremlin did not comment on rumors of a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure. New momentum has been gained after US-mediated trilateral talks (Russia, Ukraine, US) in Abu Dhabi. Russia described the talks held in Abu Dhabi last weekend as “constructive.” The next round will be held in Abu Dhabi on February 1. US President Donald Trump said last Tuesday that “very good things” are happening in the process. An American official told Axios that a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin is “very close.”

Putin agreed to this one appeal from Trump, and Ukraine was pleased.
Trump said that due to the extreme cold, “I personally asked President Putin not to fire on Kyiv and other cities for a week. He agreed to that, and that was great. The people of Ukraine were very happy about that because they are in a terrible situation.”
