Delhi: Due to rapidly changing global circumstances and Trump’s stubborn stance on Venezuela, Ukraine, and Greenland, European countries have completely lost faith in the US and its president. Consequently, the European Union is now placing greater trust in India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership     ( leadership )  as a reliable alternative. This is not our assertion, but the statement of senior European Union leaders themselves. The European Union has created a stir worldwide by announcing a new powerful agenda in collaboration with India amidst growing tensions with the US. Clearly, the world is now looking at India with hopeful eyes. This is a testament to PM Modi’s brilliant and strong leadership.

European Union to forge strategic partnership with India
The European Union has announced a major strategic and security partnership to strengthen its relations with India. This EU initiative is a major blow to the US and China. EU foreign policy chief and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, announced in the European Parliament on Wednesday that both sides have agreed to sign a new Security and Defence Partnership. This agreement will expand cooperation in areas such as maritime security, counter-terrorism, and cyber defense. This will mark a new chapter in defense and security cooperation between the European Union (EU) and India.

Major agreements between India and the EU likely to be signed in New Delhi
Kallas said, “Europe is ready to implement a powerful new agenda with India.” She emphasized the role of both in protecting open sea lanes in the Indo-Pacific region, strengthening maritime awareness, and resisting coercion. This partnership will be signed during the 16th India-EU Summit to be held in New Delhi next week on January 27. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa will attend India’s Republic Day (January 26) as chief guests and co-chair a summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kallas said: India is most important for Europe
Kallas described India as the most important country for Europe. She said that India is “essential” for Europe’s economic resilience. She added that the two major democracies should become more ambitious partners during this period of global instability. This agreement will also initiate negotiations on an information security agreement, which will facilitate the sharing of confidential information. This proposed partnership between the European Union and India, coming at a time of increasing global challenges, will be a significant step towards strengthening trade, technology, and strategic relations. A new comprehensive strategic agenda for 2030 will also be adopted at this summit.
