New Delhi: Efforts to establish peace (Peace ) in Gaza have intensified. As part of these efforts, India has also been invited to join the Gaza ‘Board of Peace’. US President Donald Trump has invited India to be part of the ‘Board of Peace’ to resolve the crisis in Gaza. India has historical ties with both Israel and Palestine, and has been providing humanitarian aid to Gaza through Egypt since the conflict began there.
Appeal for a peaceful resolution
India has also appealed for a peaceful resolution to the Gaza issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the agreement between Israel and Palestine on the release of hostages. He also reiterated that terrorism in any form and anywhere in the world is unacceptable.
Following a telephone conversation with Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu in October last year, PM Modi posted on X (formerly Twitter), “We welcome the agreement on the release of hostages and increased humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. We reaffirm that terrorism in any form or form is unacceptable anywhere in the world.”
Pakistan also received an invitation
Pakistan claimed that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has been invited by US President Donald Trump to join the Board of Peace for Gaza. Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza has entered its second phase. Trump has already declared himself the chairman of this board. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed this in response to media queries, saying that Pakistan had received a formal invitation. “The Prime Minister of Pakistan has received an invitation from the President of the United States to join the Board of Peace for Gaza,” Andrabi said in a statement. He said, “Pakistan will remain involved in international efforts to promote peace and security in Gaza, leading to a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with UN resolutions.”
What is the Gaza ‘Board of Peace’?
The ‘Board of Peace’ was established on January 15th as part of Donald Trump’s 20-point proposal. According to the White House, Trump will chair the board, which will focus on rebuilding the governance system in Gaza and bringing stability to the region. Other members of the board are US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and senior negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.
“Now is the time to turn all these dreams into reality,” Trump said of the board, which has also been approved by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). “At the heart of this plan is the Board of Peace, the most influential and important board ever created, which will be established as a new international organization and transitional governing administration.”
