Cold wave wreaks havoc in Rajasthan (Cold   ) 

Delhi: The Meteorological Department has issued a severe cold     (Cold   )  warning for northern Indian cities, including Delhi NCR. However, temperatures are expected to remain normal in the southern and western regions of the country. The minimum temperature in Mumbai is expected to be around 20 degrees Celsius at 7 am today. The maximum temperature could reach 33 degrees Celsius at noon. In Kolkata, the minimum temperature could reach 12 degrees Celsius around 6 am. The maximum temperature will be 24 degrees Celsius around 1 pm. Temperatures in Bengaluru are also expected to range between 17 and 26 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Frost was recorded in Gurugram, Faridabad, and surrounding areas, including Rewari districts, and night temperatures dropped significantly. The India Meteorological Department has predicted severe cold and dense fog in northern India in the coming days.

Mercury nears zero in Gurugram
The cold was particularly severe in the outskirts of the National Capital Region. Gurugram recorded the lowest temperature in Haryana at 0.6 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in surrounding areas also remained close to zero. In rural areas, frost could be seen on field boundaries, vehicle windows, and dry grass. Even in the city, a layer of ice was seen on the windshields of some vehicles parked outside homes. Although Gurugram is primarily an urban area, significant frost was observed in the fields around Manesar on Monday morning.

Alert issued for Tuesday
The IMD predicts that severe cold will continue in most areas of Delhi NCR and Haryana on Tuesday. Light to moderate fog may occur in some areas during the morning. The department has issued an orange alert for Tuesday and a yellow alert for Wednesday in view of the cold wave.

Minimum temperature in Delhi nears three degrees
Delhi experienced severe cold on Monday, with the minimum temperature dropping to around three degrees Celsius at several weather stations in the city. This was the coldest day of the month since January 2023. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature had dropped to 1.4 degrees Celsius on January 16, 2023. The IMD said the maximum temperature in the national capital is forecast to be 19 degrees Celsius. The department said that cold wave conditions are expected to persist in the capital for the next two days.

A severe cold wave continues in Rajasthan, with temperatures dropping to freezing point in many places. Last night, Fatehpur in Sikar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.4 degrees Celsius below zero. According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave conditions were recorded across almost all of Rajasthan in the past 24 hours, with several places experiencing extreme cold and cold day conditions. It reported that dense fog prevailed in many areas of western Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department says that the cold wave is expected to continue in the state.
