Indian Army receives BrahMos missile   (Army ) 

Lucknow: The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, developed by an Indo-Russian joint venture, has now been handed over to the Indian Army,   (Army )    fully made in India. The first batch, manufactured at the BrahMos missile production facility in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, was delivered to the Indian Army today, marking a major step towards the country’s self-reliant defense capability. Seeing this will take away Pakistan’s sleep and peace. Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “As far as Pakistan is concerned, every inch of its territory is now within the reach of BrahMos. What happened in Operation Sindoor was just a trailer. BrahMos has become the backbone of all three services: the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

BrahMos is currently a vital component of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
• The Indian Army currently has four BrahMos regiments, deployed in various strategic areas across the country.
• Almost all of the Indian Navy’s major destroyers are equipped with the BrahMos missile.
• The Indian Air Force’s Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jets are now capable of long-range precision strikes with the air-launched BrahMos.

BrahMos’s decisive role in Operation Sindoor

According to sources, during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force fired an air-launched BrahMos missile from a Sukhoi-30 MKI, accurately targeting Pakistani terrorist bases from a distance of over 300 kilometers. This was the first time an Indian missile had destroyed terrorist bases on Pakistani soil from such a range. In this mission, BrahMos demonstrated its speed, accuracy, and lethal capability.

New Generation BrahMos and Increased Range
The current BrahMos missile has a range of between 290 and 400 kilometers. DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace are now working together on the BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) missile—a lightweight, fast, stealth missile that will be launched from fighter aircraft, submarines, and other mobile platforms. Its range is expected to be extended to over 500 kilometers in the future.

First Fully Indigenous Production in India
The BrahMos production facility in Lucknow is India’s first full-scale assembly and integration unit. It has a capacity to produce approximately 80 to 100 missiles annually, with plans to further expand to 150 missiles per year.

This facility will not only meet the military’s needs but could also emerge as an export hub in the future.
Modern weapon handed over in the presence of the Defense Minister

At a ceremony held in Lucknow today, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh personally inspected this version of the BrahMos missile and handed it over to the Indian Army. On this occasion, he said that BrahMos not only symbolizes India’s defense capability but also embodies the vision of a self-reliant India. This first batch of BrahMos missiles received by the Army from Lucknow signals that India is no longer just a consumer of defense equipment, but a manufacturer.
The fully indigenous BrahMos system now available to all three forces – land, sea, and air – means that India’s strike capability and deterrence power have become manifold.
