Washington: US President Donald Trump met with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. On Tuesday, Trump said that Hamas ( Hamas ) has three to four days to respond to his 20-point peace proposal. The proposal includes a ceasefire, the release of hostages by Hamas within 72 hours, Hamas’s disarmament, and Israel’s gradual withdrawal from Gaza. It includes a variety of proposals regarding the war, which Trump himself will lead. Responding to questions at the White House, Trump said he would give Hamas approximately 3-4 days to respond to his peace plan.
Trump threatens Hamas
He said all other parties have agreed to this and are just waiting for Hamas to act. Trump issued a stern warning, saying, “All Arab countries have agreed to this. All Muslim countries have agreed to this. Israel has also agreed to this. We are just waiting for Hamas, and Hamas will either implement it or not, and if it doesn’t, it will end very tragically.”
A Palestinian source told AFP, “Hamas has begun a series of discussions with its political and military leadership, both inside and outside Palestine. But due to the complexities of the war, the discussions could take several days.”
Netanyahu said this to Trump
Trump had described the announcement of the peace proposal as “a beautiful day—possibly one of the greatest days civilization has ever seen.” At a press conference with Trump, Netanyahu warned, “I support your plan to end the war in Gaza, which achieves our war aims.” He added, “Mr. President, if Hamas rejects your plan, or if they accept it and then do everything possible to counter it, Israel will finish the job itself.”
