Foreign Minister Jaishankar at the United Nations  (Foreign )   

Geneva: India’s Foreign      (Foreign )   Minister S. Jaishankar addressed the United Nations General Assembly. He delivered the keynote address on behalf of India at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This is the first session of the UNGA since Operation Sindoor. In his speech, Jaishankar addressed the global crisis and countered Pakistan’s lies. He described Pakistan as a country that harbors terrorists and also mentioned the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif recently made baseless allegations against India in his address to the UNGA, which India rejected.

Forces driven by history have pushed the UN forward: Jaishankar
S. Jaishankar said, “Since the founding of the United Nations, forces driven by history have propelled this organization forward. As colonialism ended, the world began to return to its natural diversity. UN membership quadrupled, and the organization’s role and scope expanded significantly. In the era of globalization, its agenda evolved further. Development goals remained central, while climate change emerged as a shared priority. Trade gained greater prominence, while access to food and healthcare was recognized as essential for global well-being.”

Our Zero Tolerance Policy on Terrorism
He stated that terrorism is a common threat. The UNGA should have a deep partnership on terrorism. When nations openly declare terrorism as their state policy, when terrorist bases operate on an industrial scale, and when terrorists are publicly glorified, such actions must be unequivocally condemned. When terrorism becomes national policy, it must be condemned. Action must be taken against countries that harbor terrorism. He stated that we have a zero tolerance policy on terrorism.

Pakistan Targeted
We have a country in our neighborhood that is a hub of global terrorism. In recent years, major international terrorist attacks have originated from this country. A recent example is Pahalgam, where innocent tourists were killed. India exercised its right to protect its people against terrorism and brought its perpetrators and perpetrators to justice.
