Election Commission makes a major change (change) 

New Delhi: In a major change,   (change)    the Election Commission has now made Aadhaar and mobile number mandatory for Voter ID. A mobile number linked to Aadhaar has been made mandatory for online voter list services. According to the Election Commission, no application without an Aadhaar-linked mobile number will be accepted. According to NDTV, adding, deleting, or making changes to the voter list will now require providing the Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

System fully operational
An Election Commission official told NDTV that this decision was made about a month ago and the IT department was preparing to implement it. Now, the system is fully operational. No application without an Aadhaar-linked mobile number will be accepted.

This decision by the Election Commission comes at a time when a large-scale voter list deletion controversy is ongoing in Karnataka. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi alleged that systematic voter deletion is taking place in Karnataka and that a third force is behind it.

Rahul Gandhi alleges vote theft
Rahul Gandhi claimed that 6,018 voters were deleted from the Aland Assembly constituency. Rahul accused the Election Commission of vote theft. He stated that this was not a simple mistake but an organized conspiracy, and that more major revelations would be made soon.

Election Commission rejects allegations
Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukumar has rejected Rahul’s allegations. He stated that in December 2022, online Form-7 applications were received to delete 6,018 voters from the Aland Assembly constituency. Due to this large number, an investigation was conducted. The investigation found only 24 applications to be correct, while 5,994 were found to be incorrect and rejected. This means there was no mass voter deletion. An FIR was also filed to investigate this fraud.
