Kathmandu: Amid the ongoing protests in Nepal, Genji is holding a meeting to decide its agenda before talks with the President and the Army for the formation of the country’s new government, elections and subsequent planning. It is being told that more than 4000 youth participated in this online virtual meeting. It is reported that a consensus is being formed on handing over the interim reins of the country to the country’s former Chief Justice Sushila Karki. Genji will propose Sushila Karki’s name to the Army Chief shortly. According to sources, in the virtual meeting of the Genji group held today, Sushila Karki     (Sushila Karki )     got 31 percent votes and Kathmandu Mayor and rapper Balen Shah got 27 percent votes.
Know who is Sushila Karki
Sushila Karki is a Nepalese jurist. She is the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal and the only woman to have held the position. Karki became the Chief Justice on 11 July 2016. On 30 April 2017, an impeachment motion was moved in Parliament against Karki by the Maoist Centre and the Nepali Congress. However, the impeachment motion was later withdrawn following public pressure and an interim order of the Supreme Court ordering Parliament not to proceed with the motion.

Karki is the eldest of seven children of her parents. She belongs to the Karki family of Biratnagar. She is married to Durga Prasad Subedi, whom she met while studying in Banaras. Durga Subedi was a popular youth leader of the Nepali Congress at the time. Subedi is known for her role in the hijacking of an aircraft during the Nepali Congress protests against the Panchayat rule.

In 1972, Sushila Karki completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Mahendra Morang Campus, Biratnagar. In 1975, Karki obtained a master’s degree in political science from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India.

She had obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 1978. In 1979 she started her law practice in Biratnagar.

Karki initially worked as an assistant teacher at Mahendra Multiple Campus, Dharan in 1985.

She became a senior advocate in 2007.

Karki was appointed as an ad-hoc Justice of the Supreme Court on 22 January 2009 and was made a permanent Justice on 18 November 2010.

Karki served as Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal from 13 April 2016 to 10 July 2016, then as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court until 7 June 2017.
