Delhi: In the meeting of the GST ( GST ) Council, big announcements have been made giving relief to the common people, in which the tax on the goods used in everyday life has been reduced drastically. Many items including private health insurance premium have also been made GST free. Late night, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced two GST slabs 5 percent and 18 percent and released the full list of goods that will become cheaper. No GST will be paid on these
GST exemption on all individual life insurance policies, be it term life, ULIP, or endowment policies.
Ultra-high temperature milk, chenna and paneer
All Indian breads. That is, whether it is roti or paratha, or whatever, GST on all of them will become zero.
GST on 33 life saving drugs and medicines has been reduced from 12% to zero.
What will become cheaper
GST on cement has been reduced from 28% to 18%.
Namkeen, bhujia, sauces, pasta, instant noodles, chocolates, coffee, preserved meat, cornflakes, butter, ghee, all are in the 5% bracket.
GST on small cars and motorcycles with 350 cc or less capacity has been reduced from 28% to 18%.
GST on buses, trucks and ambulances has been reduced from 28% to 18%.
A uniform rate of 18% has been imposed on all auto parts. Tax on three wheelers has been reduced from 28% to 18%.
Dry fruits and nuts: Tax exemption on almonds, cashews, pistachios, hazelnuts and dates has been reduced from 12% to 5%.
12% GST on shoes and clothes has been reduced to 5%.
5% GST has been imposed on sports goods, toys, leather, wood and handicrafts.
Ambulance
GST on factory-fitted ambulances has now been reduced from 28% to 18%. This will make affordable ambulances available to hospitals and health services.
Small diesel vehicles
GST on diesel cars with engine capacity up to 1500 cc and length less than 4000 mm has now been reduced from 28% to 18%.
Three-wheeler vehicles
Three-wheeler vehicles will now come under 18% GST slab, earlier they were taxed at 28%.
Air conditioner
Tax on domestic and other AC machines has now been reduced from 28% to 18%. This is expected to reduce the prices of AC.
Dishwasher
GST on domestic and other dishwashing machines will now be 18%. Earlier it was 28%.
Television, monitor, projector, set-top box
GST on all these electronic devices has also been reduced from 28% to 18%, which will make these products more affordable for consumers.
GST on renewable energy equipment and parts used for their manufacture such as biogas plants, windmills, wind-powered electric generators, waste-to-energy plants, appliances, PV cells, whether assembled in modules or built into panels, solar cookers, solar water heaters and systems, etc. has been reduced from 12 to 5%.
40% tax will have to be paid on cigarettes, gutkha etc.
The 40% tax will be applicable only on pan masala, cigarettes, gutkha and other tobacco products such as chewing tobacco, zarda, unmanufactured tobacco and bidi. Further, all items including aerated waters or flavoured, caffeinated beverages containing added sugar or other sweeteners, carbonated beverages of fruit juice or carbonated beverages of fruit juice and other non-alcoholic beverages, except items specified at lower rates, will all fall under 40%.
