If you regularly pass through toll plazas on National Highway and are troubled by the hassle of recharging FASTag every time, then there is a great news for you. The central government is going to start FASTag Annual Pass   ( annual pass )     f rom 15th August, which will make toll payment even easier and convenient. Under this scheme, drivers will not need to pay toll charges every time, rather they can pay for the whole year in one go. In this report, we have brought clear answers to all the questions arising in your mind.

What is FASTag Annual Pass

Annual Pass activated on FASTag allows a private car/jeep/van to pass through toll plazas of designated National Highways and National Expressways without per-trip fee for a period of one year or 200 trips (whichever is completed earlier).

Where can the Annual Pass be purchased?

This pass can be purchased and activated only through the Rajmargyatra mobile app and the NHAI website.

How will the Annual Pass be activated?

The Annual Pass will be activated only after the eligibility check of the vehicle and the respective FASTag is completed. After the verification, a payment of ₹3,000 (for 2025–26) will have to be made through the Highway Yatra app or the NHAI website. Once the payment is successful, the Annual Pass will be activated on the FASTag in about 2 hours.

If I already have a FASTag, do I have to get a new one?

No. If you already have a valid and eligible FASTag (properly affixed on the vehicle’s windshield, linked to a valid registration number and not blacklisted), then the Annual Pass can be activated on the same.

At which toll plazas will this pass be valid?

This Annual Pass will be valid only at toll plazas on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE). At plazas and parking lots operated by State Highways (SH) or local bodies, FASTag will function normally and regular charges will be levied.

What is the validity of the pass?

The Annual Pass will be valid for one year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier). On fulfillment of any of these conditions, the pass will automatically convert into a regular FASTag. Re-activation is required to resume the benefits.

Is it for all types of vehicles?

No. This pass is only for private non-commercial car/jeep/van. The pass will be deactivated immediately if used in a commercial vehicle.

Can this pass be transferred to another vehicle?

No. This pass is non-transferable and will be valid only for the vehicle on which the FASTag is installed and registered. It will become inactive if used in any other vehicle.

Is it necessary to affix the FASTag on the windshield of the vehicle?

Yes. The annual pass will be activated only when the FASTag is properly affixed on the windshield of the vehicle.

If the FASTag is registered only with the chassis number, will I get a pass?

No. The pass will be issued only on those FASTags on which the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) is updated. Annual pass will not be available on FASTags registered only with the chassis number.

What will be considered as one trip?

Point-based toll plazas: Each crossing will be considered as one trip. To and fro will be two trips.

Closed tolling plazas: One entry and exit will be counted as one trip.

Will I get SMS alerts?

Yes. By activating the Annual Pass, you agree to Highway Yatra sending SMS and other notifications from the bank to your registered mobile number.

Is it mandatory to have an Annual Pass?

No. This pass is optional. Users who do not wish to have it can travel by making normal payments using their existing FASTag.
