The state government has become fully active after the massive disaster caused by cloudburst in Dharali village of Uttarkashi district on Monday. On the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Health Department has taken several important steps to ensure immediate medical assistance. The Chief Minister himself is monitoring the relief work and is in constant touch with senior officials, so that assistance can reach the victims on time.
Team of specialist doctors dispatched
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has directed to immediately dispatch a team of specialist doctors to Dharali area in view of the seriousness of the disaster. This team includes surgeons, anesthesiologists, physicians and orthopedic surgeons. The operation of the team has been handed over to the Director, Medical Health and Family Welfare of Garhwal Division, who has been appointed as the nodal officer in this disaster.
Beds reserved in hospitals, ban on medical leave
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has instructed all major hospitals in the state under disaster management to keep beds reserved for the treatment of seriously injured patients. Also, leave of all medical officers and staff has been banned with immediate effect until the situation becomes normal. It has been ensured that there is no shortage of medicines, surgical material and medical equipment in the hospitals.
108 ambulance service on high alert
108 ambulance services have been put on high alert in Dharali and the surrounding affected areas. The main objective of these services is to provide immediate first aid to the injured, take them to the nearest hospitals and ensure first aid to vulnerable sections. Ambulance services have also been coordinated from the surrounding districts and sent to the disaster area.
District level emergency control room established
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar clarified that an emergency control room active 24×7 has been established in Uttarkashi district. This control room will continuously monitor the relief and medical operations and establish necessary coordination, so that any kind of obstacle can be removed immediately.
Strict action will be taken on negligence
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar clarified that this is a very sensitive and humanitarian disaster, in which sensitivity and promptness is expected from every officer and employee. He warned that if any kind of negligence is found, strict administrative action will be taken against the concerned officials.
