Washington: US President Donald Trump has threatened Putin that if no agreement is reached to end the war in Ukraine within 50 days, ( 50 days) 100 percent tariff will be imposed on Russia. The US President has also announced an agreement with NATO allies to send more weapons to Ukraine. During a meeting in the Oval Office with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the US President said that he is unhappy with Russia for not making progress towards an agreement to end the Russia and Ukraine war.
The US will give more weapons to Ukraine
Citing conflicts between India and Pakistan, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Trump claimed, “We have been very successful in resolving wars through trade.” During a meeting at the White House on Monday, Trump also confirmed plans to send weapons to Ukraine, including Patriot missile systems. The president said NATO allies would buy billions of dollars worth of military equipment from the US and deliver it to Ukraine. “I’ve spoken to Germany and most of the major NATO countries and they’re very excited about it,” Trump said.
Ukraine has been given state-of-the-art weapons
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said this would be “only the first shipment” of weapons to Ukraine, and more weapons would be sent in the future. Patriot interceptor missiles are crucial to Ukraine’s defense against Russian air attacks. This US-made weapon is the only missile in Ukraine’s arsenal capable of shooting down Russian ballistic missiles. Rutte stressed that the arms deal with Ukraine would also take into account America’s own stockpile.
