The night temperature remained below freezing point


Srinagar: After two days of respite from cold in Kashmir, the night temperature once again remained below freezing point at most places. Meteorological Department officials said that only in Kokernag in South Kashmir, the temperature remained above the freezing point. He said that the temperature in Srinagar on Thursday night was minus 1.3 degrees Celsius, while there it was 0.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night.

Officials said the temperature in Pahalgam was minus 3.3 degrees Celsius, the coldest region in Kashmir. Gulmarg Resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla recorded a low of minus 1.8 degrees Celsius. Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 1.9 degrees Celsius. It was minus 1.2 degrees Celsius in Qazigund in south Kashmir and 0.6 degrees Celsius in Kokernag.

The Meteorological Department has predicted dry weather till the end of this month. It is worth noting that the 40-day period of ‘Chillai Kalan’ in Kashmir will start from December 21. During this, the region experiences severe cold.
