Islamabad: Balochistan ( Balochistan) Army captured Surab city of Pakistan’s troubled Balochistan province and killed 1 Pakistani officer. This has also angered PM Shahbaz Sharif. Shahbaz has strongly condemned this attack. Let us tell you that a senior government official was killed in the attack carried out by Baloch extremists.
According to officials, extremists of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) attacked the city of Sorab in Khuzdar district late Friday night. They captured the city for some time, set several government properties on fire and looted a bank.
Banks were looted and captured
Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind said that the attackers vandalized government offices, looted cash from the bank and also burnt the residences of several government officials. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Hidayat Buledi Baloch was killed in this attack. He stood firm during the attack and was seriously injured. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif paid tribute to Hidayat Buledi, saying that he showed “extraordinary courage and devotion to duty while fighting the extremists”.
What is the dispute between Balochistan and Pakistan?
Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan (in terms of area), which is located in the south-west. It borders Afghanistan, Iran and the Arabian Sea. Balochistan is rich in natural resources. Especially there are reserves of gas, copper, gold, coal and uranium. At the time of India-Pakistan partition in 1947, Balochistan was a semi-independent state (Khan of Kalat). According to Baloch leaders, Pakistan forcibly annexed Balochistan in 1948. Since then, protests and rebellion against Pakistan started in Balochistan.
