Cyclone Fengal alert issued  (Cyclone)

Cyclone Fengal: “The deep depression over southwest Bay of Bengal has moved slowly north-northwestwards with a speed of 3 kmph during the last 6 hours.”

It is likely to hit the Sri Lanka coast and move north-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic  (Cyclone) storm during the next 12 hours.

Thereafter, it will continue to move north-northwestwards and reach near north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts on the morning of November 30 as a deep depression.”

Due to the sea being turbulent due to the formation of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, fishermen are pulling their boats to the shore with the help of tractors.

Due to heavy rains, holiday has been declared for all government and private schools, government aided schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal tomorrow, November 28, 2024.

Strong winds are blowing at Marina Beach due to the deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal. According to the IMD, the deep depression is likely to move north-northwestwards and further intensify into a cyclonic storm.

The cyclonic storm in Kodikkarai area is causing high waves in the sea and the possibility of the storm intensifying is disrupting the daily life of the people, especially fishermen and those living in coastal areas.

The water level in Kodikkarai has receded after the cyclonic storm in Nagapattinam area.

According to the IMD, the deep depression is likely to move north-northwestwards and further intensify into a cyclonic storm on November 27.

Rough seas have prompted fishermen in Cuddalore to pull their boats ashore as the deep depression over southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm tonight.
