This Hanuman temple is very miraculous.(Hanuman temple)

Amritsar: The world famous Langur fair held every year in Bada Hanuman temple                  (Hanuman temple)  of Amritsar, Punjab started from the first day of Navratri. In this fair, from newborns to youngsters become monkeys and live a completely satvik life along with observing celibacy for the entire 10 days. This ten-day fast ends on the day of Dussehra. It is said that the idol of Hanuman ji installed in this temple appeared here on its own. It is said that when Shri Ram sent Sita Mata to exile on the sarcasm of a washerman, she took refuge in the ashram of Maharishi Valmiki at that time and gave birth to her two sons Luv-Kush there. Meanwhile, Shri Ram performed Ashwamedha Yagya and released his horse to conquer the world, which was captured by Luv and Kush at this very place and tied to a banyan tree.

Why do children become langurs?

When Hanuman ji reached to free the horse from Luv and Kush, they both captured him too and made Hanuman ji sit at this very place. Since then, the idol of Shri Hanuman ji appeared here by itself. It is believed that whoever asks for his wish from this Hanuman temple, it gets fulfilled. On the fulfillment of the wish, during these Navratris, that person brings children here every morning and evening wearing the langur costume to pay obeisance.

Langoor fair is held every year

Like every year, this year also the fair of langurs is being celebrated with great pomp. For this, enthusiasm is especially seen among the people and those whose wishes are fulfilled, they definitely come here to pay obeisance. Those whose wishes were fulfilled and Hanuman Ji blessed them with a son, brought their children here today dressed as monkeys and bowed down. However, while becoming a monkey and during almost all Navratris, they have to follow certain rules like they cannot eat onions, cannot eat cut food and have to remain barefoot. Only after following all these rules, their wish is fulfilled.
