Announced compensation to the deceased Indians( Indians) 

Kuwait: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting on Wednesday regarding the death of Indian ( Indians)  in Kuwait fire incident. While chairing the review meeting, PM Modi instructed the officials to provide all possible help. An official statement said that Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh has left for Kuwait to monitor the relief operations and bring back the bodies soon.

Prime Minister Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. He wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. PM Modi also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased Indian citizens from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. The statement said that in the meeting, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Deputy Foreign Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Pramod Kumar Mishra, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officials including Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra
Foreign employees lived in the building
Let us tell you that a massive fire broke out in the multi-storey building in Mangaf city of Kuwait in the early hours of Wednesday, in which foreign employees lived. He told that at least 49 people died in this incident, mostly Indians, and more than 50 people were injured. After the incident, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh left for Kuwait on the orders of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Minister of State for External Affairs immediately left for Kuwait to monitor the assistance of the injured in the fire incident and coordinate with the local authorities to bring back the bodies of those killed soon.

Death due to suffocation due to smoke

Sources said that five firefighters were injured during the rescue operation. It said that most of the people died due to suffocation due to smoke while sleeping. A large number of people were evacuated to safe places. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait said in a post on ‘X’, “In connection with the tragic fire accident involving Indian workers today, the Embassy has issued an emergency helpline number. All concerned are requested to contact this helpline for updated information. The Embassy is committed to provide all possible assistance.” Indians constitute 21 per cent (10 lakh) of Kuwait’s total population and 30 per cent (about 9 lakh) of the workforce.
