Today is the seventh and last phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Voting (Voting ) will be held today on a total of 57 seats in 7 states and one union territory. This phase is also considered important because voting is taking place today in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The states where voting is taking place today include 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh, all 13 in Punjab, 8 in Bihar, 4 in Himachal Pradesh, 3 in Jharkhand, 9 in West Bengal and 6 in Odisha. Along with the Lok Sabha elections today, voting is also to be held on the remaining 42 assembly seats of Odisha and 6 assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh. Voting will start at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm.
There are about 4.82 crore women, 5.24 crore men and 3,574 third gender voters in the seventh phase. A total of 10.6 crore voters will exercise their franchise. In the seventh and final phase, the fate of a total of 904 candidates is at stake on 57 Lok Sabha seats. Voting, which started on April 19, will end after 5 pm today. So far, votes have been cast on 486 Lok Sabha seats in 28 states and union territories in six phases.
In the seventh and final phase, the fate of Union Minister RK Singh, actress Kangana Ranaut, Anurag Thakur, Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan, Kajal Nishad, Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh, Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, Vikramaditya Singh, Afzal Ansari is at stake. Their fate will be captured in EVMs today and the decision will be taken on June 4. Out of the 57 Lok Sabha seats on which voting is being held on June 1, in the last election (2019), the maximum number of seats went to the account of BJP. BJD got 4, JDU and Apna Dal (S) got 2-2 seats, TMC got 9, and JMM got only 1 seat.
