New Delhi: An actor gives his all while doing a film and his performance decides whether the film will be a hit or a flop. In this competitive industry, many actors have to struggle a lot to achieve stardom. One of the actors who has acted in about 240 films, has given 74 hits which is the highest hits of any Bollywood actor.
The actor we are talking about used to live in a garage during his struggling days and now lives in a luxurious bungalow and even his children are successful actors. He is none other than Dharmendra. Dharmendra started his career in the early 1960s and established himself as an actor within a few years. But for the first few years, he was limited to supporting roles in big films. During his early days in the industry, he lived in a garage ( garage.) and worked in a drilling firm in Mumbai to earn his living. Here he was given Rs 200 as salary.
Remembered old days in reality show
The senior actor had participated in the reality show Superstar Singer as a guest and remembering his struggling days, he said, “In my early days, I used to live in a garage because I did not have a house in Mumbai. To survive in Mumbai, I worked in a drilling firm. There I was given a salary of Rs 200 and I used to work overtime to earn some extra money.
After doing a supporting role, he worked in ‘Phool Aur Patthar’ in 1966. This film achieved top position in the box office chart. This film made him a star. 1968 was almost the beginning of good days for Dharmendra with the superhit of Atma Ram’s mystery thriller Shikar and the blockbuster of Ramanand Sagar’s espionage thriller Aankhen. Dharmendra’s biggest hit films include Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Sita Aur Geeta, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Dharam Veer, Phool Aur Patthar and Yamla Pagla Deewana. The actor has also been a part of many multi-starrer films which have also contributed to his hit count.
Dharmendra has worked in more than 300 films and given a total of 74 hit films. Dharmendra was in the lead role in 60 of these. His last hit was Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani which also starred Ranveer Singh, Shabana Azmi, Alia Bhatt and Jaya Bachchan.
How much does Dharmendra charge for a film?
If reports are to be believed, senior actor Dharmendra charges Rs 5 crore for a film and his total property is Rs 450 crore. This also includes a 100-acre farmhouse in Lonavala. He also owns a lot of agricultural land and has a partnership with a chain of cottage resorts in Lonavala.
