Meteorological Department: It is extremely cold in Delhi today. The cold wave has forced people to shiver. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding fog. Even today the minimum temperature in Delhi may remain between 6-10 degrees Celsius. According to the information, fog may prevail at many places in North India today for the next 2 days. How is the weather in Delhi today?

Know that winter is wreaking havoc in Delhi-NCR. Dense fog is also present in many areas. Today, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Chandigarh regarding cold day, cold wave and fog in some districts. The maximum temperature in Delhi today may be around 20 degrees Celsius. So, the minimum temperature is likely to be around 5 degrees Celsius. Talking about pollution in Delhi, AQI remains in the serious category.

Snowfall started in Jammu and Kashmir

The wait of the people in the high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir is over. Now snowfall has started at many spots here. In Kashmir valley, there has been fresh snowfall in high altitude areas including Gulmarg, Gurez, Bangas Valley, Zojila Pass and Bandipora. Srinagar Highway has been closed due to snowfall at Zojila Pass. Vehicular movement through Zojila Pass, an important route connecting Kargil to Srinagar, has been temporarily stopped.

When will ‘Chillai-Kalan’ end?
It is noteworthy that currently 40 days of severe winter period ‘Chillai-Kalan’ is going on in Kashmir. These days, there is a cold wave in the area and the temperature goes down extremely low. The season of ‘Chillai-Kalan’ will end on January 31. In most of the districts of Kashmir, the night temperature is below zero degrees, but due to sunshine in Jammu for the last two days, the day temperature has increased by 2.0 degrees above normal to 22.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain and snowfall in some parts of Kashmir till February 3. Apart from this, heavy snowfall and rain is expected in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh from January 30 to February 3.
