3 US soldiers killed in drone attack in Jordan  (3 US)

Washington: US President Joe Biden said three members of the US armed forces were killed and several were injured in a drone strike by ‘Iran-backed’ terrorist groups in Jordan. “On January 28, a unilateral strike (drone) on a base in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border killed three US service members and wounded 25,” US  (3 US) Central Command said in a statement.

President Joe Biden called for those responsible to be held accountable and said the attack was carried out by Iran-backed radical terrorist groups operating in Syria and Iraq. He stressed that responsible parties will be held accountable in a timely manner.
Hamas said the soldiers’ deaths showed that if the Gaza war continues, Washington’s support for Israel could put it at odds with the entire Muslim world and lead to a “regional explosion.” The President said, “We will carry forward their commitment to fight terrorism and there is no doubt about that. We will hold all those responsible accountable in a timely manner.”

The US Central Command has put the number of injured in the attack near the Syrian border at 25 and said that the identities of those killed will be kept secret until their families are informed. US and allied forces have been targeted in more than 150 attacks in Iraq and Syria since mid-October, according to the Pentagon, and Washington has retaliated with strikes in both countries.
Several attacks on US personnel have been claimed by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of armed groups linked to Iran that oppose US support for Israel in the Gaza conflict.
