New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday responded to China’s statement that India was responsible for the situation along the Line of Actual Control. The Foreign Ministry again rejected China’s statement on the border dispute. The ministry said that there was unrest along the border due to the Chinese side’s attempt to unilaterally change the status quo in eastern Ladakh and the Chinese side’s mobilization of troops. The deployment of military contingents and weapons is going on from the Chinese side on the border. In response to the Chinese action, proper deployment was made from the Indian side as well. The Chinese side is expected to work for an early resolution so that the remaining issues in eastern Ladakh are resolved.
Let us tell you that the process of disengagement is going on in Ladakh through talks between India and China. Last month, soldiers of India and China have withdrawn from the Gogra area of East Ladakh. This action has been taken on the basis of the consensus reached in the 12th round of talks between the two sides. Temporary constructions in Gogra have also been removed. The army had told that other infrastructure built by both sides has been destroyed and this has also been confirmed. The army had said, ‘On August 4-5, the armies of both countries withdrew from the Gogra post. Both the sides are now in their respective permanent bases.
Earlier today, Army Chief General MM Naravane has said that incidents on the border between India and China will continue until the border agreement is reached between the two countries.
Talking about China, he said, ‘We have a pending border issue. We are again ready to face any misadventure, as we have demonstrated in the past. There is no solution and that is boundary settlement. This should be at the heart of our efforts, so that there is lasting peace on our northern (China) border.
