Confirming this, Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said in a tweet that the death toll in the train accident is increasing. In the latest report from the accident site, this figure has been mentioned as 207. The number of injured is around 900. At least 207 people were killed and 900 others injured when a passenger train rammed into the derailed coaches of another train in Odisha’s Balasore last evening.
10 to 12 coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express derailed in Balasore, Odisha and fell on the opposite track. Due to which another train going from Yesvantpur to Howrah crashed due to derailed coaches. Three to four coaches of that also got derailed. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that he has ordered a high-level inquiry into the derailment of the train. The minister said that the ‘accident was unfortunate, and rescue operations began immediately after his ministry was informed about the incident.’ Teams of NDRF, ODRAF and fire department were sent to the spot for rescue.
