Tirupati: 6 devotees ( 6 devotees) died in the stampede in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, while 40 people were injured. At the time when this stampede happened, a crowd of about 4 thousand people had gathered near Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupati to get tokens. This accident happened while distributing tokens. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu have expressed grief over this incident.
Huge crowd gathered to get tickets
According to the information, 6 devotees died and many others were injured due to stampede in Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple located in Tirumala. The stampede happened when hundreds of people were jostling to get tickets for Vaikuntha Dwar Darshanam. Hundreds of devotees from across the country have come here for the 10-day Vaikuntha Dwar Darshanam starting from January 10. Meanwhile, a video of police giving CPR to some female devotees and taking injured persons to an ambulance is going viral on social media.
PM Modi and CM Naidu expressed grief over the accident
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu have expressed deep grief over the death of 4 devotees in the stampede incident in Tirupati. They have asked the officials to investigate the incident and provide better treatment to the injured. They will reach Tirupati on Thursday and meet the victims. Let us tell you that this accident happened when the devotees were allowed to queue up at Bairagi Pattida Park. Let us tell you that Vaikuntha Dwar Darshan has been opened for 10 days. Thousands of people started gathering here for tokens.
Former CM of the state and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has also expressed deep grief over the death of devotees in the stampede in Tirupati. He has wished for the speedy recovery of the injured devotees.
Incident
Actually, it was decided to give limited tokens for Vaikuntha Ekadashi Darshan on January 10. TTD said that token distribution will be done from 5 am on Thursday for the darshan on January 10, there will be limited tokens, the first one to come will get the token. People started queuing up to get tokens from 6 pm on Wednesday evening itself. When the queue was opened for the first time at Srinivasam place in Tirupati Town at around 8:30 pm, there was a stampede among the people in a hurry to reach the first position in the queue.
Apart from Srinivasam, there was a stampede in Rama Naidu School as well. People started running pushing each other to go ahead in the queue, due to heavy crowd and tight space, people started suffocating, some people fell unconscious and others went ahead trampling them in the pursuit of getting tokens.
