Srinagar: Two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday. A police spokesman said that security forces cordoned off Redwani area of Kulgam district late on Wednesday night and launched a search operation. The spokesman said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon the security forces in retaliation.
The spokesman said two terrorists were killed in the gunfight in the early hours of Thursday. He said the identity of the slain terrorist and his affiliation with the group is being ascertained.
Officials said a joint team of security forces had launched a cordon and search operation after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists. During this, the terrorists hiding in the area started firing. After this the police sealed the entire area and started retaliatory action. Till the last information received, two terrorists have been killed.
SIA raids 16 places over ‘land grab’ by Jamaat-e-Islami

It is alleged that members of Jamaat-e-Islami manipulated revenue records to grab 35 kanals (4.5 acres) of community land. “As part of a criminal conspiracy hatched in connivance with the officials of the Revenue Department, some Jamaat-e-Islami members have been using their direct and indirect influence due to their deep links with separatists and terrorist organizations, especially Hizbul Mujahideen, in the revenue records,” the officials said.
