Earlier attack on a commercial vessel bound for India near Oman
Prior to this, on September 23, a commercial vessel bound for India, MV Cape Dao, was attacked off the eastern coast of Oman; one Indian seafarer lost his life in the incident, while 19 other Indian crew members on board were safely rescued. Confirming the incident, the Indian Embassy stated that it was in contact with Omani authorities and was coordinating the safe repatriation of all Indian seafarers. Condemning the attack, the Ministry of External Affairs asserted that the targeting of commercial vessels, seafarers, and civilian infrastructure must cease, and that safe and unhindered maritime navigation and trade in the region should be restored promptly.
