No group took responsibility
Syria’s Information Minister Hamza Mustafa condemned the attack and called it a terrorist attack. He said, “This cowardly act is against the civil values ​​that bring us together.” So far, no group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. The Syrian Interior Ministry said an extremist from the Islamic State group entered the church, fired at the people present there and then blew himself up wearing an explosive jacket, which matches the statements of some eyewitnesses.
