Washington: Everyone is waiting for the news whether the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine will stop now. US President Donald Trump had said at the beginning of his second term that he would end the war and as per his promise, he is talking to Russia and Ukraine one after the other. On Tuesday, while Donald Trump spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin (Putin ) on the phone, on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also spoke to Donald Trump on the phone. According to the AP report, Trump said that he talked to Zelensky about the ceasefire ‘according to the requests and needs of Russia and Ukraine’.
Trump told what was discussed
US President Donald Trump posted, “I just had a very good phone conversation with President Zelensky of Ukraine, which lasted about an hour. Much of the discussion was based on the call I had with President Putin yesterday, which was aimed at bringing both Russia and Ukraine together in terms of their requests and requirements. We are absolutely on track, and I will ask Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz to give an exact description of the points discussed. That statement will be released soon.”
Earlier, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino posted a post on X and then Zelensky’s spokesman Sergei Nykiforov told reporters that the President of Ukraine was talking on the phone with US President Donald Trump from the Oval Office.
Donald Trump had spoken to Putin
Russian President Putin on Tuesday agreed to temporarily halt attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities but refused to support a full 30-day ceasefire that President Donald Trump had proposed as a step toward a permanent peace deal. However, just hours after the limited ceasefire was announced, Moscow and Kiev on Wednesday accused each other of carrying out air strikes that damaged infrastructure.
