Houston. US President Donald Trump has appealed to Hamas to accept the 60-day ceasefire proposal. Trump has said that Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions of this proposal. Trump wrote on the social media ‘Truth’, I hope Hamas will sign this agreement for the good of the Middle East. The current situation will only make things worse.
Trump wrote, Israel has agreed to the conditions necessary to finalize a 60-day ceasefire. During this time we will work together with all parties to end the war. He said, my representatives had a long meeting with Israel on Gaza today. Along with this, Trump said that Qatar and Egypt will present the final proposal.
According to a CNN report, the new proposal seeks to address some of Hamas’ concerns. During the ceasefire, Israeli hostages will be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. According to the agency, last week Trump had expressed hope that a ceasefire could happen in Gaza in the next week, but at that time he did not give further information. Earlier on Tuesday, Trump had said that he would meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next Monday on the issue of Iran and Gaza.
This will be Netanyahu’s third visit to the White House since Donald Trump was sworn in for his second term in January 2025. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said on Monday that after Israel’s attacks on Iran, ending the “Israel-Hamas conflict” is now Trump’s priority.
Israel resumed its military operation in Gaza on March 18, ending a two-month ceasefire. Gaza health officials released figures on Saturday, saying that since then at least 6,089 Palestinians have been killed, while 21,013 people have been injured. The death toll of Palestinians has now risen to 56,412, while 133,054 people have been injured since the Hamas-Israel conflict began in October 2023.
