Nicosia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Cyprus, was on Monday awarded Cyprus’ highest civilian honour, the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III.
Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to the friendship between India and Cyprus, calling it an honour of 140 crore Indians.
Modi arrived in the Mediterranean island nation on Sunday on a visit, where President Nicos Christodoulides arrived at the airport to receive him.
After receiving the honour, Modi said, I express my gratitude to the Government and people of Cyprus for the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III. This is not just an honour for Narendra Modi but for 140 crore Indians; it is an honour for their capabilities and aspirations. It is an honour for our culture, brotherhood and the ideology of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. I dedicate it to the friendly relations between India and Cyprus, our shared values and mutual understanding.
