Mumbai’s Emerging Team: The Indian cricket team is all set to play a five-match Test series against England. Team ( team) I ndia, under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, will play its first Test at Headingley ground in Leeds from June 20. With this, Mumbai’s emerging team has also started preparing for its England tour. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced its emerging team for the England tour on June 16.
The command of this young team has been handed over to Punjab Kings all-rounder Suryansh Shedge. Along with him, Vedant Murkar has been appointed as the vice-captain. Many promising young players have been included in the team, prominent among whom are batting all-rounder Mushir Khan, talented batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi and young spinner Himanshu Singh.
The tour will last for a month
Mumbai’s emerging team will leave for a month-long tour of England from June 28. During this time, the team will play a total of five two-day matches and four ODIs. This team will take the field against various county and emerging teams of England. The team will play against teams like Nottinghamshire, County’s composite team (Challengers), Worcestershire, Gloucestershire.
Players have a great opportunity
Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap said that the purpose of this tour is to improve the technical and strategic skills of the players, increase mental strength and experience the culture of international cricket. This tour can prove to be a new direction for the careers of Mumbai players.
It is worth noting that many of the players selected for this tour have already represented Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. A 6-member support staff will also go to England with the team. In this, former Mumbai player Kiran Powar will be in the role of head coach, while MCA treasurer Armaan Malik will be the team manager.
