National Games 2025: Lovely Choubey and Rupa Tirkey, part of the Indian team that won the gold medal in the women’s force lawn bowls event at the Commonwealth Games 2022, won a gold medal for Jharkhand (Jharkhand) at the National Games on Wednesday while Balraj Panwar strengthened his position as the top rowing player. Andaman and Nicobar Islands cyclist David Beckham Elkatochungo won his second gold medal of the Games. He won the men’s time trial one km event. He also topped the sprint on Tuesday. After completing the half-stage of the Games, Karnataka is at the top with a total of 54 medals including 28 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 15 bronze medals. Army, which won 6 gold medals on Wednesday, is in second place with a total of 46 medals by winning 27 gold medals, 10 silver medals and nine bronze medals. Madhya Pradesh reached third place with 34 medals (17 gold medals, 7 silver, 10 bronze medals). Maharashtra (16 gold medals, 35 silver, 31 bronze medals) and Haryana (12 gold medals, 19 silver, 20 bronze medals) are in the top five in the medal table.
Jharkhand gets third gold
Jharkhand defeated West Bengal 18-8 in the women’s force final on the fifth day of the lawn bowls competition. Apart from Lovely and Rupa, the other two members of the Jharkhand team are Reshma Kumari and Kavita Kumari. Jharkhand won three gold medals in lawn bowls on Wednesday. Jharkhand’s men’s pair of Dinesh Kumar and Sunil Bahadur won the gold medal by defeating the pair of Biswajeet Khond and Biman Nath 25-4 in the final. The third gold for Jharkhand was won by Basanti Kumari who defeated Assam’s Suranjana Barua 21-20 in the women’s under-25 final.
Delhi won the gold in the men’s triple event
Delhi’s Anant Sharma, Apoorv Sharma and Abhishek Chug won the gold medal in the men’s triple event by defeating Jharkhand’s team of Alok Lakra, Abhishek Lakra and Prince Mahato 25-8 in the final. In the women’s singles, West Bengal’s Beena Shah won the gold medal by defeating Jharkhand’s Sarita Tirkey 21-8. In the men’s under-25 final, Uttarakhand’s Utkrisht Dwivedi won the gold medal by defeating Assam’s Bitu Das 21-20. Paris Olympian Balraj Panwar, who missed the bronze medal in the Asian Games in China last year, won the gold medal in the men’s single scull event.
