Narsinghpur: Tapasya Parihar, a resident of Joba, a small village near Kareli in the district, is a 2018 batch IAS. She is married to IFS officer Garvit Gangwar. This marriage came into the limelight when it came to know that in this marriage done with Hindu culture, the most important ritual was not performed. Kanyadan has the most important importance in Hindu culture, but the woman IAS officer born in Narsinghpur district broke all these bonds and brought the marriage into discussions by not getting the ceremony of Kanyadaan done in her marriage.
More discussion is happening on this marriage because all this happened with the consent of the family members and in-laws. In fact, according to Hindu beliefs, the father donates his daughter to the groom’s side in the form of a daughter. The donation made under this ritual is considered important. But tapasya believes that since childhood, I had a different thinking about this ideology of the society that how someone can donate my daughter, that too without my wish and slowly I told the same thing to my family. It took time but the family also agreed and the groom’s side also agreed that marriage can be done without giving any daughter.
Tapasya says that if two families get married together, then it is not right to be big, small or high and low. Why should someone be donated and when I got ready for marriage, I also kept the ceremony of Kanyadan away from marriage after discussing with the family members. At the same time, Tapasya’s husband IFS Garvit also explains why a girl has to change completely after marriage. Whether it is a matter of filling the demand or any such tradition which proves that the girl is married. Such rituals are never applicable for the boy and we should try to remove such beliefs gradually. Tapasya’s father is also happy with the marriage. They believe that such rituals are seen as a conspiracy to oust the girl from the father’s house or from his property.
Let us tell you that this entire marriage was completed with Vedic mantras and all other rituals. Both the IAS and IFS officers made the marriage unique by simply removing the ritual like Kanyadan and brought it into the discussions by setting an example.
