New Delhi: A meeting of the Election Commission will be held on Monday to take stock of the situation of Kovid-19 in the five polling states, in which it will be decided whether the ban on physical rally should be continued or not.
The commission can also decide whether political parties and candidates can be given fresh relief in conducting direct campaign programmes.
Citing the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Election Commission had on January 8 banned direct rallies and road shows during the announcement of polling schedules for Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur.
During the last meeting held on January 22, the Commission had extended the ban on direct rallies and road shows in the five states till January 31, but in the assembly constituencies where polling is to be held in the first two phases, a maximum of 500 people.
