Whom will Pakistan support in Russia and America?

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday made it clear who his government is with amid rising tensions between Russia and the US over the Ukraine crisis. Imran Khan on Sunday said that his country will not join any camp in global politics as his policy has been to “maintain relations with every country”.

“We don’t want to get into a situation that makes it look like we are part of a particular camp,” Khan told the media and representatives of former diplomats and think-tanks. Khan also rejected the notion that Pakistan is more influenced by China than any other country. He said that the policy of the country is ‘to maintain relations with every country’.

Responding to a question, he said that the Pakistan Army’s headquarters in Rawalpindi is also clear about the policy of this country. Pakistan’s army ruled for half of the 74 years of the country’s independence. This is not the first time Khan has said he will not follow the US and China in the face of a new Cold War.

Earlier this month, Khan had said that Pakistan wants to play its part in bringing the US and China together as “another cold war” will not benefit anyone. Talking about domestic challenges, Khan said that red tape is the biggest obstacle in the country’s reforms. He said the empowerment of the provinces at the expense of the federal government has also created problems.
