New Delhi. The weather is expected to be pleasant in Delhi-NCR (NCR ) today and the sky will be clear. According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Delhi today is expected to be 16 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is expected to be 32 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on October 20 was 31.1 degrees Celsius, which was 1 degree Celsius less than normal. Similarly, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.1 degrees which was 2 degrees Celsius less than normal. IMD has predicted rain with lightning and strong winds (30-40 km per hour) at isolated places in Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands of South India today.
According to IMD, strong winds (wind speed ranging from 60-70 km per hour gusting to 80 km per hour) are likely in the south-west and adjoining west-central Arabian Sea today. Apart from this, stormy weather (wind speed ranging from 40-45 km per hour to 55 km per hour) is expected in the south and adjacent central Bay of Bengal. Fishermen have been advised not to go to these areas. According to IMD, now Northeast Monsoon is expected to start in the southern states of the country. Northeast Monsoon rains are likely to commence over Southern Peninsular India in the next 48 hours with easterly/northeasterly winds expected to reach Southern Peninsular India. However, in general the initial phase of north-east monsoon is likely to be weak.
According to IMD, the pressure over the southwest Arabian Sea increased by 6 km during the last 6 hours. It turned into a deep depression while moving west-northwestwards at a speed of about 1 hour per hour. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm over the south-west Arabian Sea during the next 12 hours. Moving towards west-northwest, it is likely to turn into a severe cyclonic storm on the evening of 22 October. After this, from the morning of 24th, it will move north-northwest towards South Oman and adjoining Yemen coasts and cross the Oman-Yemen coasts between Salalah (Oman) and Al Ghaida (Yemen).
There is a low pressure area over the south-west and adjacent south-east Bay of Bengal. It is very likely to move north-westwards and turn into a depression over west-central Bay of Bengal around October 22. After this, it is likely to move north-northeast towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts during the next 3 days. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation is formed in the lower and middle troposphere level in and around Comorin area.
