Used to put used condom in the donation box of temples

Bengaluru: Karnataka Police has arrested a man who used to put used condoms in donation boxes of temples. The accused Devdas Desai told the police during interrogation that he was doing this to spread the message of Jesus and he has no regrets about it. The police had been looking for him for almost a year. Desai used to leave the temple premises and put used condoms in the donation box there.
Police said that 62-year-old accused Devdas Desai has done this in many temples of Mangaluru. His search was going on for a long time, but every time he managed to escape. On December 27 last year, it came to light that a used condom was found in the donation box of a temple in Korajana Katte village. After this the police arrested him.

After the information of the incident, the police checked the cameras installed in and around the temple. When the officers checked the CCTV footage, the face of the accused was visible in it, on the basis of which the police arrested him. During interrogation, Devdas Desai admitted that he has defiled many temples in this way. The accused told that he has done this act in a total of 18 temples. However, out of this, only five temples had lodged complaints with the police.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Sasikumar said that with the help of CCTV footage, the police team was able to nab the accused. Devdas Desai has left his wife and children long ago. He used to work as an auto driver, but due to old age, he left driving and started doing plastic picker work. The accused told that the family has been following Christianity since the time of his father.
According to commissioner Sasikumar, the accused told that he used to throw condoms used in temples so that by desecrating them, he could divert people towards his religion. Not only in temples, the accused did this in some gurdwaras and mosques. During interrogation, the accused said that he has no remorse for his actions, he was only spreading the message of Jesus. The accused also said that the Bible says that there is no other God but Jesus. I used to throw condoms because impure things should be thrown only in impure places.
